| FAQ on Excessive Perspiration |
| |
| How does the treatment work? |
| |
| Botox® is a natural, purified protein with the ability to
temporarily block the secretion of the chemical in the nervous
system that is responsible for "turning on" the body's sweat
glands. By blocking, or interrupting, this chemical messenger,
Botox® "turns off" sweating at the area where it has been
injected. During the procedure, a very fine needle is used to
inject small amounts of Botox® just under the skin near the
sweat glands responsible for excessive perspiration. Using a
very fine needle, a small amount of a solution of Botox® is
injected into 15 to 20 places about 1.5 - 2 cm apart and
spread evenly in each area. A course of Botox® for excessive
sweating treatment takes about a total of 30 minutes. |
| |
| How effective is the treatment? |
| |
| In clinical trials, sweat production was reduced by more
than 90% in two weeks with Botox® hyperhidrosis treatment. |
| |
| When will I start to see the results? |
| |
| Individual results vary but most will start to see results
one week after your treatment. |
