IPL Acne
Acne is a common inflammatory disorder of the skin which affects the pores and sebaceous glands. Generally, acne covers the face, arms, back and chest.
Using the IPL system, we can treat mild to moderate acne on small or large areas of the skin.
A course of six treatments is recommended, spaced every 2-3 weeks, and can be combined with Microdermabrasion or Skin Peels to enhance results.
Benefits
- Kills bacteria on the surface and under the skin
- Reduces and prevents breakouts
- Reduces post hyper-inflammatory pigmentation
- Reduces and improves older acne scarring
Before Treatment
- Avoid sunbeds/prolonged exposure to sunlight for four weeks
- Avoid fake tan for one week
- Avoid using saunas/steam room on the day of treatment
- Avoid exercising immediately before treatment
- Must not have used Roaccutane in the last six months
- Do not squeeze spots
During Treatment
The IPL creates a heat reaction within the skin to target and destroy surface bacteria and the deep-rooted bacteria within existing pustules/papules. This gentle heat also stimulates collagen production to help speed up the healing process to reduce the chances of scarring and hyperpigmentation forming. This can also help to improve older mild scarring. The heat also targets the overactive sebaceous glands to reduce sebum production, reducing oil production on the skin's surface over time.
After Treatment
Redness may occur immediately or within 24 hours.
An Irritation, a mild itching or warm sensation (like sunburn), may occur immediately or within 48 hours.
The brown spots can appear darker after treatment, and a thin crust will form and flake away, leaving the pigmentation looking lighter or removing it. Do not remove the darker pigmentation or crust or exfoliate. Leave your skin to heal.
Make-up can be applied several hours after treatment if the skin does not feel sensitive, sore, or irritated and the skin is not broken. Remove make-up carefully with cleanser and pat dry, do not rub your skin as this will irritate it.
Avoid steam room, sauna, and hot baths for 4-5 days.
Wash and bathe as usual in a lukewarm shower, pat dry skin and apply the recommended home care products.
